ENGLISH TRIUMPH IN THE VALLEYS – BUT ONLY JUST
This year’s annual Home Countries Wheelchair Bowls Championships were held in Wales by hosts the Welsh Paraplegic and Tetraplegic Sports Association. The Championships were put together with the help of the Presenting Partner ‘Mon Motors Group’ and was supported by Disability Sport Wales and Village Hotels. The venue was the picturesque Sully IBC overlooking the Severn estuary.

BWBA MATCHPLAY PAIRS 2010
Tamworth and Distict IBC hosted the BWBA’s MatchPlay Pairs weekend recently. Wheelchair bowlers can pair up with a partner of their choice – disabled or not. This format – a tried and tested one for the BWBA – highlights the fact that a wheelchair bowler can play on equal terms with other bowlers. Matches are the best of two sets along with a shoot-out if necessary.

SUSSEX COUNTY INDOOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION BREAKS NEW GROUND
At its recent Annual General Meeting SCIBA appointed a wheelchair bowler as their Deputy Vice President for the forthcoming season 2010 / 2011. Ian Blackmore will take on this important role in the County hierarchy immediately and will work towards being County President in 2012 / 2013. This is a first for a wheelchair bowler.

Over recent years, Summers have become increasingly full of music festivals – Glastonbury, Reading, V, etc but early Summer is the time for bowls festivals; notably at Scarborough and at Bodwellyan Castle, North Wales. These events are popular with wheelchair bowlers.
